VSU'S PEGGY DAVIS ELECTED CIAA PRESIDENT

Peggy Davis, Athletic Director at Virginia State University, has been elected President of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Davis becomes the third female President in the 96-year history of the CIAA. She succeeds Alfonza Carter as President for the two-year term.
She served as Vice-President in 2007-08 and was named CIAA
Athletic Director of the Year in May for the second consecutive
year.
Under Davis' leadership the VSU Athletics Department was honored by the university and awarded the Governor's Excellence Outstanding Team award. In 2005 she received the Jeannette A. Lee Athletic Administrator Achievement Award. Davis has overseen the Trojan athletic program since July 10, 2003.
Prior to her current position of athletic director, Davis served as the women's head basketball coach, associate athletic director and senior woman administrator.
Davis has been at the helm of a VSU sports program which has won seven CIAA Conference Championships and four NCAA Tournament bids in five years. Six Head Coaches have been awarded the CIAA Coach of the Year under her leadership.
