Moore named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (June 18, 2009) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Department of Athletics has named Ahmad R. Moore as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Intramural Sports Coordinator.

Moore is entering his first year with Lincoln University men’s basketball program; however, he is no stranger to Lincoln University. For the past four years, Ahmad has been the Recreation Center Intramural Sports Coordinator.

“We are pleased he has joined our staff,” Lincoln Director of Athletics Dianthia Ford-Kee said. “We look forward to the wealth of knowledge he will bring to our basketball program. With his interest and commitment to fitness I am sure our basketball athletes will be physically fit to compete with the best of the CIAA and other NCAA Division II institutions. We welcome Coach Moore and look forward to the 2009-10 basketball season.”

Moore will work with head coach Garfield Yuille, who has led the Lions for the last five years compiling a 78-61 record during that time. The Lions finished with an 8-18 record in 2008-09.

Moore gained coaching experience by working as a player-assistant coach at Frenchburg Job Corps Trade School (1994-97) and as the head men’s basketball coach at Great Onyx Job Corps Trade School (2003-05). In addition, he has experience as a college basketball player at South Florida Community College, Job Corps, and Kentucky State University.

Born and raised in the state of Florida, Moore has been around basketball all his life; from the basketball playground to college basketball. During his junior, and senior years in high school he was recognized for excellent sportsmanship, and scoring a minimum of 17 points per game.

Moore’s duties will include pre-season conditioning, assisting with practice and games, academic reports, and recruiting.

Moore graduated from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Recreation. He is a member of National Intramurals Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA).

Moore and his wife, Apryl, of five years live in Elkton, Maryland, and they have one daughter Kimberly Elise (2).
